So, what if someone told you that teeth are actually yellow!? Well, technically, the yellow dentine is covered with a protective layer of white enamel – but underneath that the tooth is actually yellow!

So, now you know that when you have really yellow teeth – that means that most of the enamel has actually worn away!  Of course, there are other, less harmful causes – like stuff you eat that stain your tooth (quite the way red wine stains your clothes or your carpet).

In fact, there can be quite a few causes for yellowed teeth – some that stain your teeth and others that cause the enamel to wear away. Knowing which one is the cause can actually help you to choose a more appropriate solution!

As for solutions to try – there are medical procedures for teeth where the dentine is exposed – these procedures use an artificial substance to coat the teeth with a special protective layer – and restore the white sheen as well! For stains, of course, there are ways to remove this layer and expose the clean and white enamel underneath!

And the best news is – for whitening procedures that just remove the stains, you needn’t even visit your dentist! You could, if you wanted to, of course… But the alternative is to use any of a number of available over-the-counter teeth whitening products  that work pretty well too!

Yes, well yellow teeth is cause for embarrassment – it could even make you the butt of quite a few jokes among friends! But… if you didn’t really do much to stop it – you may as well do this bit now to get your pearly whites back again!
